Joe and Ed open the episode with an update on what they’ve been up to during the holidays. Ed’s got great memories of family, friends and tons of his favorite food. Joe, meanwhile shares mishaps of this year’s gaming systems and learning all the tech his kids got for Christmas.

As for New Year’s Resolutions? There’s none of that for the Colony Confidential crew.

It’s all about goals

In Ed’s words, “What I found with those resolutions, some of the stuff you wanna do, happens, and some of the stuff you thought you were gonna get - like accounts you wanna get, they don’t happen. Some of them you think you’re gonna get take a little longer, some of them you lose. And there’s always my favorite, the ones you don’t plan on coming.”

What they do have are goals for the New Year.

Joe shares goals he set for his company Colony Pest Management last year, you can hear more about whether they hit or missed those targets in the full podcast episode.

Ed on the other hand is all about having a good time. “I wanna roll off a van stone drunk.” Ed has some #travelgoals for 2019, with plans to go to Ireland, the Kalahari Lodge, and a Cigar Fest in Pennsylvania in May.

But one thing Joe and Ed both co-sign on: how important health is. Joe sums it up, “A goal for everybody is to maintain health. What’re we working so hard for if we’re not healthy?”

Ed has been working out and counting points with Weight Watchers while Joe is looking for a new diet as going pescetarian didn’t quite work for him.

This Shutdown Isn’t Shutting Them Down

Joe and Ed also weigh in on the government shutdown.

“There’s a government shutdown now and we’re still paying taxes, which I have trouble understanding,” Joe states.

“You can pay the taxes, still, they’ll take it. But you know what? When you got a tax return? They can’t send it out now because of the partial shutdown.” Ed continues

Joe’s new venture Synergy Scents South (synergyscents.net), is based in Washington D.C. and they’re feeling the direct effect of this shutdown. We’re gonna have to find out how this is gonna play out in future podcast episodes of Colony Confidential.
